If you’re feeling cynical about humanity right now, here’s a sweet story to cheer you up a little. Last Wednesday, a group of cyclists riding around Yishun Dam were approached by a cardboard collector who had gotten lost on his way back to his home in Yishun.

One of them lent him a phone to call his wife, but she didn’t pick up. Reluctant to let the elderly man wander around all night, the Good Samaritan and his friend hopped off their bicycles and patiently walked all of 6km to accompany him home.

“May he ride safe always, and remember the love of fellow cyclists and the true spirit of the Loop,” the netizen ended off his post in the Love Cycling SG Facebook group.

In the comments section, people praised the two for their thoughtfulness and compassion, with one individual sharing a word of wisdom: “It’s not how fast you can go. But how much heart you have to go real slow. Kudos!”
