The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to a high rise incident yesterday morning at Keppel Terminal, where a man had been trapped on top of a crane.

SCDF deployed a fire engine, a red rhino, an ambulance and three support vehicles to the scene at 10:30am, where they found the man dead, trapped in a cable drum — the round spool used to wind up wires and cables.

It was not immediately apparent how the man had been killed, while authorities have yet to release further details of the case.

His body was brought down from the crane by SCDF and an in-house emergency team personnel from the Port of Singapore Authority (PSA). Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

According to The Straits Times, the deceased was a Singaporean worker at the terminal. Speaking to the paper, PSA assured that it would be providing assistance to the man’s family and cooperating with the authorities in their ongoing investigations.
