A brutal scuffle between nightclub hostesses over a guy left one of them permanently blind in one eye while the other will have to serve 16 months in prison.

Former nightclub hostess Siti Zahara Afifi Abdul Karim was sentenced to jail today for popping out the left eye of her colleague when she kicked the victim’s face with her 14.5cm-long stiletto heel, The Straits Times reported. The 28-year-old will also have to pay a compensation of $5,923 in medical bills incurred by Nur Lena Rahmat.

The 30-year-old victim — also a former hostess at Club One KTV Boutique — is now visually impaired (obviously). She had to have her left eye removed, with an implant inserted in its stead, while her right eye has limited vision.

The violent altercation took place at the nightclub along Jalan Sultan in the wee hours of Oct 8, 2015. According to the court report by ST, the two had been arguing over the braces of Zahara’s sister, who’d been in a relationship with Lena’s male friend.

Despite having broken up with Zahara’s sister, Lena’s friend wanted to continue paying for his ex’s braces. Zahara had been mad that Lena allegedly advised the guy against his decision.

The argument escalated into a fight, and the two fell to the floor. When bystanders tried to separate them, Zahara (wearing her stiletto heels) furiously kicked Lena in her face. The victim felt the heel entering her left eye before the eyeball popped out of its socket.

Zahara’s flurry of attacks only stopped when her former colleague cried out “I cannot see, I cannot see”. Lena underwent treatment at Tan Tock Seng Hospital soon after.

In court, District Judge Mathew Joseph chided Zahara on her “incomprehensible and inhumane act”, ST reported.

“In your unrestrained and seething anger, you have perversely turned a simple fashion accessory item into a lethal weapon,” he said.

Sahara escaped a heavier sentence, as she was convicted of committing a rash act instead of causing grievous hurt. She could have faced the maximum sentence of four years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
