It may be a few days after the Ides of March (March 15, the day when Julius Caesar got snuffed), but the oncoming days bring bad tidings, nonetheless. In the form of scorching hot weather. Et tu, Northeast Monsoon?

According to the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS), folks should expect temperatures between 34°C and 35°C in the next fortnight due to strong solar heating and light winds. On average, the daily maximum temperature is forecast to range between 33°C and 34°C — so expect sweaty times ahead.

That’s not to say it won’t rain. Short-duration thundery showers are still expected on five to seven days, mostly in the afternoon, and these could extend into the evening on a few days. Proper storms with gusty winds are expected in the morning on one or two days during the period as well.

MSS forecasts the inter-monsoon period to prevail into April and May, where warm weather and thunderstorms will develop mainly in the afternoons and early evenings. “This may occasionally produce the appearance of slightly hazy skies over parts of Singapore on some days,” it said.
