Heavy rains caused flash flood #2 at Upper Thomson Road this afternoon

Thanks to the bout of heavy rain this afternoon, the Upper Thomson Road area experienced another flash flood — its second one in two months (last Christmas Eve’s flood caused damages to at least eight businesses in the area). With the rising waters, traffic was terribly affected and drivers were honking impatiently. This was made worse by the earlier closure of one of the roads due to construction works.

The National Environment Agency had already warned the public to expect moderate to heavy thundery showers with gusty winds from 3.30pm to 4.30pm today. A few roads were affected, including Upper Thomson Road towards Seletar Expressway after Jalan Pelatina, where traffic was congested and backed up until MacRitchie Viaduct.

The Land Transport Authority came back with an update that the flash flood was over a little after 4pm.
