Judging from the last couple of days, you probably could tell already that the rainy period is upon us — a nice respite from a very balmy July.

With prevailing Southwest Monsoon conditions in the region forecast to persist this month, the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) expects more showers in the first half of August. Short-duration thunderstorms are forecast on five to seven days, with most of the showers occurring between the late morning and early afternoon.

On some days, the showers could even extend into the late afternoon, so bundle up in sweaters. With the National Day Parade set to take place out in the open at The Float @ Marina Bay, one would wonder what the arrangements will be when it pours.

The daily temperature over the first fortnight could range between 24°C and 33°C, and on the few dry days, maximum temperatures of around 34°C can be expected.
