The internet is a truly wonderful place if you ignore the grim sections of the world wide web like 4chan, the darknet, right-wing fundamentalist sites and the comments section of Yahoo News Singapore.

Though not as outrightly cancerous as the examples above, the comments section of The Straits Times can sometimes be confusingly ludicrous, offensive, and downright absurd — which probably tells us a lot about the readership of Singapore’s biggest newspaper. They’re always entertaining, nonetheless, and praise be to the Internet Gods that someone decided to feature the best of these comments on one Facebook page.

Behold: The Straits Times Comment Section. Aptly categorized as a “Literary Arts” Facebook page.

The Facebook page serves one purpose, and that is to highlight just how puerile Straits Times readers can get when given a platform to voice their opinions on the news. Really, we’ve all known how outrageous internet commenters can be (on ST Facebook pages or not), but having a portal dedicated to highlighting the worst of the worst is absolute frickin’ gold.

But enough talk. Without further ado, here are some choice cuts from the national treasure that is The Straits Times Comment Section Facebook page.
