Expect heavy traffic at Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints this weekend

The rest of Singapore’s streets may be empty on Hari Raya weekend, but do expect heavy traffic at both Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints.

Traffic is expected to be particularly heavy on Jul 16 and 17 for people leaving the city, and Jul 19 for those entering Singapore, according to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority.

To avoid a surge of travellers and vehicles seeking clearance at the land checkpoints, travellers are advised to adjust their travel plans if possible, the ICA appeals.

Travellers are encouraged to car-pool where possible, while drivers are asked to maintain lane discipline at all times.

The ICA also reminds Singaporeans, Singapore Permanent Residents and Long Term Pass holders to use the enhanced Immigration Automated Clearance System (eIACS) lanes at the bus halls for immigration clearance.
