As far as Singapore’s train operations are concerned, there can never be enough prayers in the world to make it run without breakdowns during times when we need it the most.
So when eight religious leaders from Singapore’s Inter-Religious Organization dropped by the new set of MRT stations along the Downtown Line to bless it, you best believe that train services will run with the grace of God(s).
Downtown Line 3 adds 16 new train stations, including Fort Canning, Bencoolen, Jalan Besar, Bendemeer, Geylang Bahru, Mattar, MacPherson, Ubi, Kaki Bukit, Bedok North, Bedok Reservoir, Tampines West, Tampines, Tampines East, Upper Changi, and Expo. They’ll all be officially launched come Oct 21, but train otakus and other members of the public are welcome to preview the new stretch for free on Oct 15.
Of course, if divine invocations aren’t able to prevent crippled services along the whole Downtown Line (like what just happened back in August), you can always rely on commuter support groups that’ve emerged since the regular episodes of train breakdowns and delays.
