On Saturday morning, a dolphin was discovered in the waters of Bedok Jetty, attracting a crowd of people to the spot. One netizen, a bystander who posted a video of the marine creature to the Nature Society (Singapore) Facebook page, explained that an angler had caught the mammal with his fishing rod and was attempting to reel it in.

Even though the others told him to cut his line, he refused to do so. The dolphin, struggling in the water, was injured after it got entangled in the fishing line. Acting on behalf of the concerned crowd, the netizen called Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (Acres) and finally got the fisherman to sever the line two minutes later.

However, the weak-looking dolphin was already bleeding at the tail and swam off slowly, Channel NewsAsia noted.

Another passer-by related to The Straits Times that the incident, which started around 7:30am, lasted about 15 minutes. Kalai Vanan, deputy chief executive officer of Acres, told ST that by the time Acres responded to the call, the animal was long gone.

The organization said it was monitoring the situation on Saturday afternoon, but no updates were given after that.
