Dead leopard cat found outside Bukit Regency Condominium in Upper Bukit Timah

Are there actual leopards roaming around in our forests? That’s the question raised when a netizen notified Stomp about his perplexing find — a dead ‘leopard cub’ which he found in front of the Bukit Regency Condo last Friday.

He remarked that the spotted critter’s body looked fresh, and had not decomposed yet, before expressing worry about the potential existence of wild cats near Bukit Timah. After all, the condo is pretty close to Bukit Batok Nature Park as well as Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.

Though it’s true that the dead feline looks like a ‘leopard cub’, we’re hedging out bets that it is in fact an Asian Leopard Cat, a small wild cat native to South and East Asia. Most probably, someone had obtained it illegally and kept it as a pet — but perhaps it ran off or its owner left it there for dead.
