Call this divine intervention or just plain dumb luck, but a pedestrian escaped grievous injury (or even death) thanks to a car accident.
A dashcam clip recorded at a traffic junction between Bukit Merah Road and Henderson Road on Tuesday night depicts the moment when a car T-boned a ComfortDelgro taxi, preventing the cab from potentially mowing down a lady who had been crossing the road.
Amidst a discussion about books within the car with the dash cam, the cabbie started driving for some reason, despite it being a red light.
The cabbie, however, failed to see a pedestrian attempting to rush across the road. By that time, both of them didn’t have time to react appropriately — an accident between the cab and the lady was inevitable.
But then, a miracle. A black sedan crossing the junction smashed right into the side of the yellow taxi in the nick of time, pushing the vehicle away from the pedestrian’s path. As for the lady, she managed to make her way to the other side safely, well alive to die another day.
Of course, it doesn’t appear to be that the black car intentionally slammed into the taxi to save someone’s life. But surely the uncanny sequence of events would be enough to make the pedestrian believe that someone (or something) is watching out for her.
Nonetheless, netizens lauded the inadvertent heroism displayed by the driver of the black car. The incident is not unlike the time when a certain caped crusader caused an accident to save a man’s life.
According to the police, an ambulance conveyed a 61-year-old woman — said to be a passenger in the black car — to Singapore General Hospital.
