Proving that nobody is above the law, the Singapore Police Force fined one if its own after dashcam footage showing an officer running a red light went viral, The Straits Times reports.

The video, taken back in June and later shared online by Singapore Road Accident, was taken by a car facing perpendicular to the T-junction at Bukit Batok West Avenue 5 and Bukit Batok Street 31, where the offense occurred.

The clip shows the officer in question lurching forward several meters despite the traffic light being red.

Fortunately, the cop realized his mistake before reaching the pedestrian crosswalk which had people crossing the street. He reverses his vehicle, going back behind the stop line, presumably embarrassed by the whole thing.

Although no one was injured, the officer was later identified and has been fined S$200 and given 12 demerit points for failing to obey the traffic light, TODAY reported.

“Officers of the Singapore Police Force are not only expected to uphold the law but maintain the highest standards of conduct,” said an SPF spokesman. “Anyone who commits an offence will be dealt with in accordance with the law.”
