In a horrible dash cam clip uploaded and shared widely on social media over the past couple of days, an elderly man was seen knocked down to the ground by a ComfortDelGro taxi that had been reversing a wee bit recklessly.

The incident itself took place at the open-air carpark of Block 7 Eunos Crescent on Sunday morning. The clip shows the moment of impact between the taxi and the 75-year-old victim, who had been crossing the road and did not manage to see the vehicle barrelling towards him in time. The collision sent the man falling face-first onto the road, before struggling to move.

Fair warning — the footage you’re about to see below is graphic.

Speaking to Stomp, ComfortDelGro confirmed that the victim was conveyed conscious to Changi General Hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

As for the driver responsible, he was immediately fired from the company.

“This is a terrible accident which could well have been avoided had the cabby exercised greater care and caution,” said ComfortDelGro’s corporate communications officer Tammy Tan to Stomp, assuring that they would provide assistance to the victim’s family.

“We have terminated his hiring agreement with immediate effect and will be assisting the police in their investigations.”
