In spite of various fatal accidents that have dogged Singapore in recent weeks — not to mention all the dangerous antics of some motorists — there are still people who boldly challenge the law on the roads. That driver who beat the red light with two Traffic Police officers behind deserves a special mention, of course.
Last Friday (Mar 17), drivers along the East Coast Parkway (ECP) were forced to halt as a large trailer truck made an illegal turn out of the entrance to the Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE).
The driver displayed some serious skills with that manoeuvre.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported, but the 32-year old driver has since been arrested by the police.
According to TODAY, the trailer belongs to Rio Logistics. The company business development manager, Patrick Chan, stated that the driver “will face serious action regardless of any reason he may have for driving against the traffic and jeopardizing public safety”.
The person who uploaded the video above told TODAY that the truck driver should have attempted to contact the authorities for help if he realized that he ended up at the wrong lane. “Two wrongs doesn’t make a right. It’s very dangerous for the large vehicle to make that manoeuvre without marshals. He should have called for help,” he added.
