Man, this seems like something straight out of a hack-and-slash gangster film. A dispute between a 52-year-old man and a door-to-door representative for Uber resulted in the man brandishing a chopper to threaten the latter. He was arrested in relation to a case of criminal intimidation, The Straits Times reported.

The man was apparently upset after the rep approached him at Blk 759 Jurong West Street 74 last Friday (Jul 21) to share information about Uber’s services. A dispute somehow erupted, and the man subsequently grabbed a chopper and went downstairs to approach the Uber rep.

A video of the incident surfaced online and made its rounds on social media, showing the man shouting and wielding a chopper in a bid to intimidate the representative. A woman, said to be his wife, was seen wresting the chopper out of his hand as some passers-by watched the event unfold.

The police were alerted to a case of criminal intimidation at about 9:11pm. “A 52-year-old man was arrested in relation to the case, and police investigations are ongoing,” said a police spokesman. No injuries were reported, fortunately.

A spokesman for Uber told The Straits Times that they are investigating the matter. “We understand from our third-party agent that our representatives did not provoke the man to warrant such behaviour,” she said. “We stand ready to assist in this investigation.”
