62-year-old e-biker killed on Cecil Street following accident with tipper truck

Another tragic accident involving personal mobility devices (PMDs) transpired this morning at Cecil Street, where a 62-year-old man was killed after his electric bicycle collided with a tipper truck.

Police arrived soon after and arrested the tipper truck driver for causing death by negligent act. Roads.sg caught some footage in the aftermath of the crash; the e-bike can be seen smashed to bits, while a tarp was laid over the body of the casualty.

The fatal accident is eerily similar to the one last month along West Coast Highway — two e-bikers were killed after being hit by a trailer. Earlier this month, another accident involving a heavy truck took place, providing a harsh lesson on why motorists need to be extra careful when in the blind spots of big vehicles
