40-year-old Big Splash at East Coast Park to close for good in October

After about 40 years of operations, Big Splash at East Coast Park will say goodbye on October 21 this year, when its lease with the National Parks Board expires. At its peak, the attraction boasted the tallest water slides in Singapore, but the water park was demolished a decade ago. Despite that, the establishment’s eateries and recreation facilities still continue to bring in 300,000 visitors each month.

Even though its final official day is in October, several businesses will shutter sooner ‘for reinstatement’, while others have gotten lease extensions. Among the 21 tenants, some have already secured new locations to move to. Outdoor gear store Hornest will make Oxley Business Park its new home, while Alpha Gymnastics is going to Chai Chee Technopark.

According to The Straits Times, the space is slated to give way to a new development starting next year, but plans have yet to be revealed.
