2 men nabbed for trying to swim to Singapore illegally; one wears shirt that says “paddle hard”

Life’s short — paddle hard. An important mantra to remember even when you’re paddling hard in the sea off Woodlands Waterfront, trying to enter Singapore illegally.

Two Bangladeshi men were arrested for unlawful entry early Wednesday morning when authorities found them swimming in waters near the coastal park in Woodlands around 1.44am.

Investigations on the 36-year-old and 37-year-old are ongoing, according to the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA). In a hilariously fitting circumstance, one of the swimmers caught was wearing a Kanoe Sports t-shirt that’s commonly worn by the canoeing and dragon boat bros of Singapore. Paddle hard, indeed.

If convicted of illegal entry, the suspects face a jail term of up to six months and at least three strokes of the cane.
