As if ticket scalpers weren’t enough trouble, some Coldplay fans had the horrible experience of being cheated out of their money after they got scammed on Carousell.

According to the police, several reports were lodged between Mar 10 and 23 from victims who bought discounted tickets listed on the popular online marketplace. After the victims transferred money over to the seller, the seller went dark and became uncontactable. Cheated!

Two men — aged 22 and 27 ‚ have since been arrested in connection to the scam, the police said in a statement.

The fact that scammers targeted diehard Coldplay fans isn’t that surprising. Ever since the Brit band announced their show here, fans have been chomping at the bit to get tickets to the concert that’s happening at the National Stadium tomorrow and Saturday. Tickets sold out within an hour, but reappeared on various online marketplaces at preposterous prices — as high as $3,510 even. The funny thing is, there were actual buyers willing to pay that much.

The overwhelming demand to catch Coldplay led to the announcement of a second show, which also had tickets snapped up swiftly. With all 100,000 tickets sold out, of course there’d be some buyers desperately looking to get their hands on one — and scammers were more than ready to take advantage.

To give fans a final chance to catch the show, organizers released more tickets for sale today, albeit for seats with a restricted side view of the stage. Sales aren’t doing that well though — tickets for the crappy view are still available as of writing.
