TOA PAYOH

Infamous for a time (much like Geylang now) due to its history with Singapore’s crime syndicates and gangs, Toa Payoh has been the focus of many pioneer events – the visit of Queen Elizabeth II was the proudest historical moment for residents. It’s now developed into a bustling, respectable neighbourhood hosting all things delectable, from cheap coffee shops and hawker centres to the hippest heartland cafes around town.
