A quick digest of the coolest weekend happenings in Singapore.

Friday, Oct. 11

This Is The 90s

Revel in nostalgia and party like it’s (literally) 1999 at this throwback rager featuring hits from the decade’s greatest, like Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, TLC, and even grunge gods Nirvana. Just come (dressed) as you are, as you were.

10pm-3am at Cherry Discotheque, 133 Cecil St; Free Admission for first 100 ladies before midnight, otherwise it’s S$30 at the door.

Dining for a good cause – L’Espresso’s signature English afternoon tea buffet

Spend an afternoon sipping tea while supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month at The Goodwood Park Hotel’s L’Espresso café.

Feast your eyes, and palates, on the pink-themed spread of cakes, tarts, chocolate fondue, and even rosé sparkling wines — if a boozy afternoon is what you’re after.

While you’re at it, raise funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation by purchasing a pink ribbon – a symbol of the cause – for just S$2.

Till Oct. 31 at Goodwood Park Hotel; From S$48++ (Adult); S$29++ (Children)

Oktoberfest at Tablescape

What’s October without Oktoberfest? The German festival celebrating all things beer has officially landed in Singapore at the Tablescape restaurant and bar in hotel Grand Park City Hall.

Tablescape chef Armando’s four-course beer-centric menu will see him whipping up dishes including a tender Angus Beef Cheek with a sauce made from Singapore’s very own Tiger Beer.

Till Oct. 13 at Tablescape; S$68++ for a 4-Course Set Menu

La Brasserie’s La Cuisine Naturelle

Here’s another option for Singapore foodies – more food. Malaysian chef Kim Hock, owner of Penang’s Au Jardin fine-dining restaurant, is taking over the kitchen at La Brasserie in Fullerton Bay Hotel this weekend to present a taste of his own restaurant’s cuisine.

Diners can choose between two-, three-, and four-course meals, with starters such as the savoury Angus Beef Tartare, and mains like an Iberian Pork Jowl. End your meal on a sweet note with desserts like the La Foret Noire au Jardin chocolate mousse, made with Malaysia’s Seniman Batang Kali cocoa.

Till Oct. 13 at La Brasserie, The Fullerton Bay Hotel; From S$25++

Saturday, Oct. 12

National Museum’s 132nd Anniversary Celebrations

Singapore’s National Museum turns 132 years old this week and it’s celebrating the occasion with a line-up of events that promises to transport visitors into the 19th century, when Singapore was an old port city bustling with traders from around the world. Catch interactive performances revolving around the lives of traders, or take part in craft-making for a glimpse of pre-industrial artisan life.
