Friday, Oct 19

A Chocolate Discovery

In collaboration with Philippines-based premium chocolate Malagos, Porta Fine Food & Import Company is presenting a four-course chocolate-centric menu. On the line-up, you’ll find the likes of milkfish with 85% dark chocolate, foie gras terrine with 65% dark chocolate, and braised beef cheek with 72% dark chocolate.

6:30pm-10:30pm at Porta, Park Hotel Clarke Quay. $68, additional $36 for wine pairing.

Above and Beyond

This limited edition four-course menu highlights dishes like jumbo scallops with fondant potato, maple leaf duck breast, and A5 Miyazaki wagyu beef rib cap, complemented with wine pairings.

Donburi Revolution

The inaugural DIY donburi event by WAttention allows you to create your own bowl with your favorite toppings. Other highlights include live cooking demonstrations and onigiri workshops.

Neon Jungle

Gardens by the Bay’s Supertree Grove gets transformed into a neon jungle this month with neon light installations in the form of endangered animals. Other highlights include a neon-lit night market hawking handmade goods and eco-friendly items, a moonlight cinema, a glow-in-the-dark party, and circus street performances.

Festival of Fresh

Surprise, surprise. Online marketplace and on-demand delivery service honestbee has unveiled a high-tech grocery and dining space called Habitat, which gives Amazon’s own Amazon Go no-checkout supermarket a run for its money. To celebrate the launch of the cashless, automated retail space, they’re inviting everyone to enjoy free pasta-making, food-styling and coffee-tasting workshops alongside live music by Joei Tan, New Stream Brass Band, and more.

Philips Carnival

The bi-annual event returns with discounts of up to 60 percent off Philips products, as well as programmes like a pop-up kitchen helmed by restaurateur Angela May, food carts, health talks, and free wet or dry shaves and style consultations by Sultans of Shave.

Singapore Wine Fiesta

Sip on light, medium, and full-bodied wines, from pinot noir to shiraz, at this year’s Wine Fiesta, which is going indoors for the first time. It’ll kick off with the four-course Winemakers’ Table Dinner by Dutch chef Tim Meijers at Clifford Pier in The Fullerton Bay Hotel.

Swig & Nibble

Cuca Restaurant from Jimbaran, Bali, pops up at Pan Pacific Singapore this weekend as part of its Gastro Tours. Expect sweet and savory canapes paired with curated tipples and a backdrop of techno swing beats.

Until Oct 20, 7pm at L4 poolside bar on Friday and at L1 atrium bar on Saturday. From $125.  

The Curse of Amityville

Take on the infamous Amityville House, brought to life in Singapore for Halloween, with terrifying creatures lurking in the depths of the maze. You can present a ticket stub from Cathay Cineplexes or a $5 same-day receipt from Cathay Malls to enter, or just buy your way in for $10. The first 80 people who survive this freak out each day will get gift vouchers.

The Inventions of Ancient Greece: Origins of Our Modern Technology

Uncover ancient Greek technology at this exhibition, where you’ll walk through replicas of inventions from over 2,000 years, including the likes of the first humanoid robot servant invented by Philon of Byzantium.

Thomas Gold

Berlin-based DJ/producer Thomas Gold helms the decks at CE LA VI for a night, bringing his beats of progressive house to the rooftop club lounge.

Saturday, Oct 20

All Possible Paths: Richard Feynman’s Curious Life 

ArtScience Museum’s new exhibition focuses on the life of Nobel Prize-winning physicist Richard Feynman and his extraordinary achievements, exploring his contributions to physics and his pioneering work on quantum mechanics.

Until Mar 3, 2019 at ArtScience Museum. Adults $12-$15, seniors/students/children $8-$10.

Oyster & Ribs Buffet

Eat your way through the seafood buffet and meats grilled on a charcoal barbecue, with everything from tiger prawns and Fine de Claire oysters to sticky pork ribs and Australian angus beef short ribs.

Every Friday and Saturday, 6pm-10pm at Alley on 25, Andaz Singapore. $48, additional $40 for free flow wine, draught beer, and prosecco. 

FestivalForGood

Check out social enterprises at the pop-up market and attend talks and discussions with social entrepreneurs at this festival.

The Robertson Revelries

CITY65 Music takes over KC Arts Centre for a night to put on an acoustic showcase of two local indie bands: pop-rock quartet Shirly Temple and alt indie-rock band Cadence.

Universe of Sound Festival

Singapore’s first Universe of Sound festival is a non-profit event focused on empowering the mind, body, and soul through music and frequencies. Look forward to talks and workshops, live performances, and a holistic wellness exhibition.
