Friday, Feb 15

A Mexican Portrait

This solo exhibition by Mexican photographer Martha Gabriela Driessen showcases black and white images of the everyday lives of Mexican people in Mexico and the United States.

Appulse

This experimental art and music show by Interstellar features fashion artworks, live painting for clothes customization, and DJ sets all mashed-up together.

I Am You

French visual artist Elodie Chandernagor’s latest photography exhibition looks at the illusion of self and the divinity of the human body.

Okasian

South Korean rapper/singer Okasian, aka Kim Ji-Young, dishes out his hip hop grooves and energetic beats at Zouk’s Phuture for the first time.

Romance by the River

The River Safari’s new camp experience brings 15 couples on a nature journey that includes photo ops with nocturnal animals, a four-course dinner in a luxury tipi tent, and an overnight stay in private tents at the Amazon Flooded Forest. The next morning, you’ll dine next to the zoo’s orangutans at the Jungle Breakfast with Wildlife, followed by a behind-the-scenes tour of the Amazon Flooded Forest and an aquarist’s training session with a manatee.

Universal After Hours

Universal Studios Singapore gets into the nightlife action with its new after-hours program, featuring the first-ever Hollywood Dreams Light-Up Parade, performances by local bands, pop-up food stalls, and fireworks displays on weekends. Festivities will go on till 10pm, but the parade will start at 7:30pm, with characters from Madagascar, Jurassic Park, Revenge of the Mummy, and more.

Every Friday, Saturday, and select public holidays; park hours extended until 10pm at Universal Studios Singapore. Admission fees apply.

 

Saturday, Feb 16

Mad for SAM Party

Before the Singapore Art Museum’s buildings close at the end of Feb for renovation works, they’ll go bare and open up to the public this weekend. Look forward to multimedia and Insta-worthy activities, souvenirs, DJ and band performances, and iconic artworks on display.

Until Feb 17; Sat 10am-10pm, Sun 10am-7pm at SAM at 8Q. Free. 

Night at the National Museum: Valentine’s Day weekend 

The museum extends its hours on V-Day weekend so visitors can check out showcases like DigiMuse Presents, Lucy Liu and Shubigi Rao: Unhomed Belongings, and In an Instant: Polaroid at the Intersection of Art and Technology.

7pm-10pm at National Museum of Singapore. Free.

Rule, Britannia!

The Kinkilicious x Eatmepoptart party gets going with drinks and plenty of dancing to Brit-pop, punk rock, and new wave tunes by DJs weelikeme and KiDG.

8pm-late at Kinki Rooftop Bar. Free.

Sky High Brunch

The first CLV brunch of 2019 offers a four-hour free flow of champagne, cocktails, and a buffet spread that includes oysters, prawns, and mussels at the raw bar, Asian tapas like salmon tacos and BBQ duck baos, grilled meats such as wagyu beef sliders, and loads of desserts.

The Future of Our Pasts Festival

This year’s festival features 11 multi-disciplinary projects in different art forms that reimagine Singapore’s history, with highlights such as the Orchard: A Stroll Between Valleys installation; Remembering Sungei, an exhibition of artefacts and interviews with vendors from the Sungei Road Thieves Market; First Storeys, a theatrical installation of Singapore’s move from kampungs to HDB flats; documentaries from the Reimaging Histories film series; and music performances by the likes of Sarong Party and Project Idiom.

The Perfect Pair 

Valentine’s isn’t just for lovers – all “perfect pairs” are welcome at this Saturday shindig, from superheroes like Batman and Robin to the breakfast combo of eggs and bacon. Just dress up in theme and you’ll get in to the party for free.

10pm-late at Lavo Singapore. $20, free entry for those dressed in theme.
