Yes, yes, Zouk still lives on in Clarke Quay right now, with brand new aesthetics and spaces — but for many, the iconic club’s previous digs at Jiak Kim Street will always be near and dear to their hearts. After all, it was there for 25 years.

Sure, the final send-off at Jiak Kim had been a proper blast, but here’s something with a little more class and prestige. Ladies and gents, pay homage one more time with a live orchestral tribute to the biggest dance hits that’ve graced the various rooms in Zouk at Jiak Kim Street.

This ain’t no rinky-dink event either. A 50-piece orchestra will be accompanied by some of the country’s finest musicians and vocalists as they run through 25 years of house music at the old Capitol Theatre, which will be transformed into a dance club. What a time to be alive.

Helmed by longtime Zouk exec Aldrin Quek (resident DJ from ’96 to ’07; music director from ’00 to ’07), you know it’s gonna be a legit Zouk (Jiak Kim Street era) experience. Guest musicians include the likes of jazz vocalist Rani Singam, saxophonist KAYE, Singapore Symphony Orchestra lead violinist Lynnette Seah, soul/R&B singer Vanessa Fernandez and more.

The half-concert-half-rave-party will go on for two nights only (March 24 and 25), and getting turnt is encouraged as the event aims to recreate the groove and vibe of a dance floor — but on a way grander scale.

“What better way to celebrate the music, the tribe and the dance that put Jiak Kim Street on the world map, than to join us in a concert that will push the boundaries of music the way Zouk did!” wrote the event organisers.

Tickets are already up on sale at $158 onwards via Sistic — and entry allows you to stay on for the afterparty following the concert. Stay updated on the Facebook event page.
