Tekka Market’s fishmonger, butcher to go on livestreaming tomorrow

A fishmonger, a butcher, and a vegetable seller from the popular Tekka market in Little India are moving online for a day tomorrow via a new livestreaming initiative.

Home viewers can tune in to the Tekka Online Market livestream on Facebook from 12pm to 3:30pm to catch three of the market’s vendors sell vegetables, saltwater fish, and quality halal meat across various one-hour time slots while stocks last. Buyers can place their orders in the comment section and pay digitally. 

The Tekka Online Market is an initiative by the Infocomm Media Development Authority, or IMDA, and aims to encourage businesses to go digital amid the COVID-19 situation as more people stay home.

Those who have placed orders are required to pay through the PayNow fund transfer service. Islandwide delivery is free with a minimum purchase of S$20 (US$14.10). 

The three vendors have been trained by experienced auctioneer Max Kee from Lian Huat Seafood, known for his regular seafood auctions livestreamed from the Jurong Fishery Port.
