Big congrats to Singaporean photographer Lester Koh Meng Hua, whose work has been shortlisted among the top ten for the 2017 Sony World Photography Awards’ Open Architecture category. This year’s submissions totalled over 227,000 images from 183 countries across the globe, and Koh is the only Singaporean to be recognised in the Professional, Open, Youth and Student Focus competitions.

The photography enthusiast’s image (see above), which was snapped during last year’s National Day celebrations, depicts one of Singapore’s oldest public housing estates at dawn. It will be showcased alongside other shortlisted images at the Sony World Photography Awards & Martin Parr — 2017 Exhibition in London from April 21 to May 7.

Two other local photographers received commendations in the awards’ Open competition as well. Albert Tan Chee Hiang and Chin Boon Leng placed among the top 50 in the world for the nature and wildlife categories respectively.
