When NomadX first debuted in Singapore late last year, it was branded as a high-tech way to shop across numerous labels, from fashion and beauty to food and electronics. But like its name suggests, it’s merely a temporary home for tenants, and so it was inevitable that the store underwent a revamp to unveil a new look.
This time, it’s quirky and cool, with graphic “showrooms” inspired by provision shops, arcades, supermarkets, and more. Each brand has its own little corner that it designs to suit its aesthetic, and the shop’s physical space and online platform are home to more than 30 local and international names.
Just like before, the “smart” elements are all over the space, with a touchscreen directory, interactive screens, “game stations” that help you find your style, and mirrors that offer automated store assistance.
So when you see something you like, just scan the product QR code to add it to your digital cart for purchases that can be made anytime. (That also means you can take time to mull over the item at home if you’re not the type to make a spontaneous buy.)
New to NomadX, The Lucky Shop (by Zha Huo Dian) is a boutique fashion house that curates its collection with old school street cred in mind, bringing in vintage-style clothes and accessories for men and women. Also in the retro vein, Modparade launches its newest women’s series exclusively at the store, while DistriSneaks shows off its limited edition sneakers.
At The M*Art, the supermarket shopping experience turns edgy with apparel and accessories displayed in neon pink repurposed refrigerators, and The Arcade takes you back to the ’80s for retail therapy with a tinge of nostalgia.
It’s a tad gimmicky, sure, but hey, at least it’s different from your run-of-the-mill high street store. Things will also be switched up every two weeks at the Suitcase Showcases dotted across two levels, so you never know what to expect every time you step into the place.
Other newcomers to take note of include homegrown fashion and accessories brands Qlothè, The Sophia Label, Ans.ein, and Studio Emoi, as well as mrphy’s home decor range and French beauty company Melvita making its Singapore debut here. Plus, local label Evenodd has expanded its offerings to showcase its new line of “Take-out bags,” and little ones can find printed outfits made from eco-friendly fabrics at Roses & Rhinos.
Oh, and keep a lookout for sustainable swimwear from August Society, all things pleats by Pleatation, and non-kitschy local souvenirs by Love SG popping up at the store soon.
Besides those fresh faces, the brand line-up also features loungewear by Bells & Birds, natural beauty goods by alcheme, customizable perfumes from Oo La Lab, bespoke nail polishes from Nail Deck, Singapore Memories’ scents inspired by local heritage, soy wax candles from Twig & Co, and popsicles by Annette Ice Cream.
