The annual cherry blossom floral display at Gardens by the Bay just got swept up in Japan spring fever with the inaugural Sakura Matsuri. Besides the pretty blooms, the festival also features Japanese tea ceremony demonstrations, performances, and a kimono parade.

Also look out for the week-long Sakura Japan Fair, with F&B booths serving up Japanese fare like ramen and onigiri rice balls, alongside booths spotlighting the uniqueness of each prefecture in Japan, and workshops teaching you the art of bento lunch boxes, sake appreciation, and baking.

At the main event in the Flower Dome, sakuras line the pathways leading up to Japanese-themed decor such as torii gates, a rickshaw, dolls dressed in kimonos, and a tea house.

While you’re there, see if you can spot flowers like the pale pink Prunus Accolade, the white five-petal Prunus Yeodensis, the white blooms of Prunus Snow Fountain, and the light pink Prunus Kikushidare reminiscent of chrysanthemums.

As always, cherry blossoms flower and fade quickly, so you’d best swing by while they’re at their peak.

Sakura Matsuri is on from now till Apr 8, daily 9am-9pm at Supertree Grove and Flower Dome. Free; admission to Flower Dome applies.
