Did you guys watch Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald? Then you must already know and love Ezra Miller. Or maybe you know him from the creepfest that was We Need To Talk About Kevin? This enigmatic actor also portrayed the character The Flash in the most recent Justice League film (if you could take your eyes off of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman). Needless to say, Ezra is one talented and versatile young actor.
But did you know that Ezra Miller is also an incredibly talented musician? He’s plays the drums and sings for Sons of an Illustrious Father a “genre-queer” band consisting of Ezra, Lilah Larson, and Josh Aubin.
This is not your normal everyday punk rock or pop band. In fact, Sons of an Illustrious Father is a band far from any of these labels. Their sound is a bit punk, a bit folk, a bit raw, and a bit elemental, something that they’ve dubbed “genre queer”. And they quite often trade instruments and co-produce their music. Yes, everyone does a bit of everything here, and that’s what makes this band so unique.
The most recent release by this unique band of artists was in 2018. A collection of 9 tracks that can make your thoughts and emotions go cray cray, titled Deus Sex Machina: or, Moving Slowly Beyond Nikola Tesla.
Oh and did we mention that the band experimented with electronics, nestling machine-made droplets and hums, turns and whirs, amongst their visceral melodies in their last release. That makes us wonder, what’s next, right?
