Chance the Rapper’s first Asia tour announced, Singapore show set for late August

Chance — real name Chancelor Jonathan Bennett — wrote in a tweet posted just hours ago: “I’m playing Asia for the first time y’all!”

The Asian leg of his tour will see the rapper performing in Osaka, Tokyo, and Manila, ending with his Singapore show on Saturday, August 25.

Tickets for the show, which will be staged at concert hall Zepp@BIGBOX, are going on sale on Friday, June 22 at 10am on his official website. Prices and the exact show time have yet to be announced, but here’s hoping the tickets for that one won’t be bleeding us dry before summer even rolls around (we’re looking at you, Bob Dylan).

The Same Drugs singer is the first streaming-only artist to win a Grammy. He’s the first male solo rap artist to win Best New Artist.

“This is for every indie artist who’s been doing this mixtape stuff for a long-a** time,” the singer said during the 59th Grammy Awards when he accepted the Grammy for Best Rap Album for the gospel-inspired hip-hop mixtape Coloring Book.

The Chicago native also won Best Rap Performance for No Problem, featuring Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz.

Here he is performing at the White House Christmas lighting in 2016 (Sasha Obama is clearly a fan):

And one more before we sign off: his album Coloring Book on Spotify.

Chance the Rapper performs in Singapore on Aug 25, at Zepp@BIGBOX. Tickets on sale from June 22, on his official website’s tour page.
