Known for their silky skills on the football pitch, Chelsea FC players Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Nathan Ake will soon be participating in the International Champions Cup. It’s a pre-season friendly tournament that also features the likes of Bayern Munich and Inter Milan, and it’ll be held in Singapore for the first time at the Sports Hub from July 25 to 29.

So what better way to drum up excitement than having them attempt to cook a Singapore delicacy, char kway teow?

Led by London-based chef K.S. Toh, who runs Singapore Garden in Northwest London, the trio were taught the ropes and duly faced each other off in a cooking challenge. Luckily, the players seemed to know how to handle a wok and didn’t cook up a disaster, and the chef dished out compliments left and right (although we know Singaporeans probably wouldn’t be so forthcoming with their flattery).

The winner was none other than playacting expert David Luiz, who looks like he could win a Tony award on the pitch as well.

Tickets $40-$188, available via Sports Hub Tix.
