Sink your claws into these five different seafood-themed buffets every week

For those of you on a dedicated seafood diet‚ this is something you need to see. J65 at Hotel Jen Tanglin Singapore has introduced not one but five themed seafood buffets each available on different days of the week, and it’s something you’ll want to sink your claws into. 

Be ready to bring your appetite, ‘cause from 6:00pm-9:30pm daily you’ll be able to dive straight into seafood prepared in a range of cuisines from Indian and Japanese to Chinese dishes. Singaporean favorites such as laksa and chicken satay make an appearance too. You’ll get to eat your way around a massive spread, so extensive it will satisfy all of your food cravings. Monday: Seafood BBQ & Beer Buffet (Promo: SG$88++ for two diners, U.P. SG$58++ per pax)

The perpetually hot weather in Singapore is good for one thing — ‘tis the season for a good ol’ barbeque. A giant grill will be set up at the restaurant’s alfresco area, with baby lobster, prawns, and squid grilled-to-order, right in front of your eyes. Talk about dinner and a show. You’ll even have the option to top-up for free-flow beer to round off the meal. 

Tuesday: International Seafood Buffet (Promo: SG$88++ for two diners, U.P. SG$58++ per pax)

Your tastebuds will be taken on a trip, starting with Western dishes such as seafood Thermidor with garlic bread and slow roast grain-fed beef striploin. You can’t miss the Asian dishes such as soft shell crab sushi, chili style lobster with mantou, braised pork belly with black mushroom, or butter chicken and their signature laksa.

Wednesday: Lobster Rock N Roll Buffet (Promo: SG$148++ for two diners, U.P. SG$88++ per pax)

Spoiler alert, you’ll be spoiled by the heaps of Boston lobsters cooked in a variety of ways. We’re talking baked lobster thermidor, black pepper lobster, and even Asian percik-style lobster. You’ll get to load up on lobster-themed carbs such as lobster fried rice and lobster congee too.

When you’ve had your fill of lobsters though, make it a surf-and-turf experience and fill up on meatier options like braised oxtail stew and slow roast grain-fed beef striploin.

Thursday & Sunday: Asian Seafood Buffet (Promo: SG$88++ for two diners, U.P. SG$58++ per pax)

Take it up a notch with a spicy kick. The fresh seafood served on these days are accompanied by flavourful Asian sauces. Think a massive baked salmon with percik sauce, made with turmeric, lemongrass, tamarind, and coconut milk. What about some Kam Heong style clams, where clams are stir-fried in a sauce made with a fragrant blend of dried shrimps, curry powder, shallots, and garlic. 

Friday & Saturday: Seafood Madness Buffet (Promo: SG$116++ for two diners, U.P. SG$68++ per pax)

Madness indeed, as you’ll be able to help yourself to a literal mountain of freshly-shucked oysters, Boston lobsters, prawns and mussels. You can even get hands-on with it and make yourself some rojak or kueh pie tee at the DIY stations. The madness continues with heartier options of spicy crabmeat with pasta, and braised pork belly amongst others. 

The chronically sweet-toothed will also marvel at the wide variety of desserts at your disposal across the different days. We’re talking everything from Nyonya kueh, assorted cakes and durian pengat, to more familiar buffet staples such as ice cream and something we’re definitely fond of — a chocolate fondue fountain.
