2018 has been a great year for Odette, Julien Royer’s French fine dining space at National Gallery Singapore. It already has two Michelin stars, was just named Best Restaurant in Singapore, and took fifth place on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list in March. And now it’s clinched the 28th spot on the line-up of World’s 50 Best Restaurants for 2018.

Coming in at the top of the list for the first time since its reign in 2016: Italy’s Osteria Francescana, which also got the honor for Best Restaurant in Europe, followed by El Celler de Can Roca in Spain, Mirazur in France, Eleven Madison Park in New York City (Best Restaurant in North America and last year’s winner), and Bangkok’s Gaggan (Best Restaurant in Asia, no surprises there), rising two spots from last year.

The list may be dominated by European names, but elsewhere in Asia, we’ve got Tokyo’s Den at 17th place, the highest climber; Narisawa, another Tokyo entry, at 22nd position; Shanghai’s Ultraviolet at 24th spot; Nihonryori RyuGin in Tokyo at 41st; and Bangkok’s Nahm at 49th.

Last year, Singapore was repped by Restaurant Andre, but then it went and closed for good in February.

The awards, put together by British trade magazine Restaurant based on an anonymous survey of over 1,000 international chefs, restaurant owners, food critics, and industry insiders, were handed out on Tuesday in Bilbao, Spain.
