Sign up for Kilo Under Pressure to try a 4-course menu prepared by an amateur chef

In this regular series of kitchen takeovers, seven amateur chefs get the chance to run a professional kitchen for one night, as Kilo Under Pressure returns after a four-year hiatus to offer home cooks a chance to experience what it’s really like to play in the big leagues. (More likely than not, it’s gonna be way tougher than they imagine.)

After an open call for submissions and a series of interviews and tastings, the first budding chef has emerged. Originally hailing from London, Oliver Budgen has zero experience working in a restaurant kitchen, but spends his free time whipping up dishes described as stripped-down Mediterranean inspired by Southern France, Southern Italy and Greece.

Entrust him with the fate of your dinner on May 5, when he’ll take over Kilo to prepare a four-course menu. And even if you can’t make it this time round, six more home cooks will step up to the plate in subsequent sessions each month. It may not always be smooth sailing, but you can be sure there’ll always be sizzle of drama and loads of great food.

Check out what happened during the first Kilo Under Pressure below. It’s kinda like a tamer version of Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen.

The first Kilo Under Pressure is on May 5, 7pm at Kilo Kallang, Level M, 66 Kampong Bugis. $65++/person for a four-course menu. Email reservations@kilokitchen.com or call 6467-3987 after 4.30pm.
