If you’re super psyched about the Yayoi Kusama exhibition at the National Gallery Singapore – it debuts this month – perhaps you’d like to take the experience to another level with this limited edition Yayoi Kusama-inspired afternoon tea.

Available at The Fullerton Hotel Singapore for a month, the three-tier tea set includes five specially created sweet treats inspired by the artist’s works. For example, the cube of lychee mousse freckled with dots mimics the constellation in ‘Gleaming Lights of the Souls’, while the red-tinged chocolate mousse topped with a blue choc disc is influenced by Kusama’s ‘I Want to Live Forever’ from the ‘My Eternal Soul’ series.

But the most standout dessert has to be the hazelnut cream on a Breton sable with vibrant gelatinous dots – it’s an homage to ‘All My Love for the Tulips, I Pray Forever’, an artwork that was sold for USD5.1million, the highest price paid for a work by a female artist.

Other colorful creations include a strawberry shortcake inspired by ‘Life is the Heart of a Rainbow’, and a mango cremeux confection featuring the polka dots often associated with Kusama.

Besides these new sweets, the afternoon tea also offers finger sandwiches, pastries, scones, cakes and free-flow TWG tea or coffee.

The Yayoi Kusama-inspired Afternoon Tea is on from June 9-July 10, Mon-Fri 3pm-6pm, Sat-Sun 2pm-4pm & 4.30pm-6.30pm, at The Courtyard, The Fullerton Hotel Singapore. $43/person.
