Maxi Coffee Bar is the tiny new cafe on Club Street serving up varieties of caffeine and toast

For the coffee addicts who can’t kick start your day without a cup of caffeine, here’s a new CBD opening offering what you so desperately crave in the mornings: Maxi Coffee Bar. Quite literally a hole in the wall of Emerald Green, a condominium along Club Street, the cafe is so tiny, you can only sink into one of the two seats by the counter or a bench at the side. Suffice to say, it’s more of a grab-and-go kind of joint.

With walls awash in white and a soothing shade of blue — a subconscious way to calm your jittery, pre-caffeine nerves, maybe — the small space is packed with potted plants, hanging bulbs, and coffee contraptions.

Those who’ve worked in the Ann Siang area for a while may remember the place formerly occupied by Stamping Ground Coffee and Bicky & Brew.

Maxi Coffee Bar retains that friendly, cozy neighborhood feel, with a limited menu of java drinks in options like black ($4), white ($4-6), coconut cold brew ($7.50), and iced cereal milk latte ($7.50). If you’re not up for a shot of coffee, try the hot/iced chocolate ($6) or coconut chocolate ($7.50) beverages instead.

Those hankering for a bite to eat can order one of the few open-faced toasts on the menu — there’s the standard cafe item of avocado feta ($8), alongside more interesting flavors such as miso peanut butter ($6), ricotta jam ($6), and Vegemite cheese ($6).

Oh, and plans are in the pipeline to add booze to the menu, so keep an eye on this one.
