Load up on burgers, pancakes and milkshakes at this no-frills American diner in River Valley

No Frills Burger

Unpretentious American comfort food is the star of One Night Only, the no-frills American diner along River Valley Road. Ironically, the eatery and its calorie-laden dishes are brought to you by the same people behind The Daily Cut, also known as the favorite #eatclean joint of gym buffs in the CBD (they’re the brains behind burrito bar Muchachos as well).

But sometimes you just gotta let loose, right? Even if it’s just for one night only. So if you’re in the mood for a cheat day filled with hearty servings of fluffy pancakes doused in syrup and juicy cheeseburgers with a side of crispy fries, swing by the diner for a waistline-busting meal.

Buttermilk fried chicken ($16.50)

The menu brings you on a culinary trip around the US with highlights such as Nashville hot chicken ($16.50), New England lobster roll ($30) with Old Bay potato chips, Maryland crab cakes ($18) and Texan chicken-fried steak ($21).

Burger lovers can go for the cheeseburger with fries ($13.50) or the steak sandwich with onion rings ($15). Oh, and mains come with two sides from a selection that includes mac and cheese, creamed corn, biscuits and gravy, baked beans, and cornbread.

If you prefer to pick and choose what you like, get the BYOB (Build Your Own Breakfast) option — available all day, the dish lets you pile your plate with everything from eggs, bacon and smashed avocado ($3 each) to hash browns and corned beef hash ($4.50 each) to buttermilk pancakes ($9), brioche French toast ($10.50) and maple bacon pancakes ($12).

Toss in a root beer float ($9) or a vanilla, chocolate, strawberry or mocha milkshake ($10.50), and your meal is complete.

Damn, that’s a whole lot of calories right there.

One Night Only is at 397 River Valley Rd, 6235-1248. Tues-Fri noon-10pm, Sat & Sun 9am-10pm.
