This year’s Epicurean Market, Marina Bay Sands’ annual culinary fest, returns for its fifth edition with new features like a local street food experience and a cocktail bar inspired by local flavors. At the Singapore Street Food two-storey shophouse, you’ll get to watch live demonstrations on the making of char siew soh pastry and try local dishes with a twist, such as ‘ginseng’ abalone bak kut teh and banana fritter with gula melaka ice cream. Of course, for the traditionalists, there’ll also be servings of good old prata, Teochew png kueh, ice kachang ball and muah chee.

Also influenced by local food is the new Kampung Bar, where hawker-inspired cocktails are whipped up with familiar ingredients like chilli, lemongrass and pandan.

Oh, and for the food-obsessed who are always the first in line at new restaurants, this is your chance for a sneak peek at Lavo, the soon-to-be-opened multi-concept restaurant/bar/nightclub at MBS. It’ll be dishing out Italian plates of its signature meatball with ricotta, as well as pastas and meats.

Keep an eye out for Japanese ramen chain Ippudo, also making its Epicurean Market debut, alongside regular celeb chef participants like Adrift by David Myers, Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen, Waku Ghin by Tetsuya Wakuda, and loads more.

Besides all that feasting and boozing, you’ll also get a chance to attend wine and spirits master classes at The Connoisseur Series, party the night away to DJ beats, and pick up fresh produce from around the world at the Farmer’s Market.

Epicurean Market 2017 is on from Aug 11-13, Fri & Sat noon-2am, Sun noon-9pm at Sands Expo and Convention Centre. $39/three-day pass.
