There’s a new hawker in town, and no, it’s not of the kopitiam variety. Billed as the country’s first Asian hawker-themed fast food joint, Hawker is set up by No Signboard Holdings — the company behind No Signboard Seafood and its legendary white pepper crab. Sure, its name isn’t the most creative, and online searches to pinpoint their business pages may prove to be tougher than usual. But it’s pretty much what you’d expect it to be.
The casual concept, which debuted at Esplanade Mall about two weeks ago, serves local hawker grub, fast food style. That means items like Hainanese chicken rice burger, roti prata wrap, satay chicken burger, chilli crab bao, nasi lemak burger, Milo Koko Krunch ice cream, and chendol Softee are featured on the menu. So if you’d like a little variety to your usual coffee shop lunches, perhaps this spot will do the trick.
And, keep an eye out for potential new creations such as white pepper crab burger and briyani burger in the future.
So sure of the eatery’s allure, the group is already in the midst of expansion, with plans to open a second branch at One @ KentRidge mall in late November and a third one at Paya Lebar Quarter next year. By the end of 2019, you can expect to see about six to eight Hawker stores across the island, according to TODAY.
However, those too lazy to leave their homes can order the dishes via food delivery services like Honestbee, Foodpanda, and GrabFood starting from next week.
Hawker is at #01-13E Esplanade Mall, 8 Raffles Ave.
