Carribean Cook-off at Lime House on Oct 11

This sounds like it’s fun to watch: Four chefs attempt to cook iconic Caribbean dishes like Jamaican Jerk Chicken and Fish Cakes with curry aioli and pineapple mango salsa. They do not necessarily have previous experience cooking these dishes.

Sure it sounds gimmicky, but wouldn’t you like to see Dan Segall (ex Ku De Ta), Nick Scorpion (Oxwell & Co), Ricky de Kock (Cure) and Andrew Baldus (Meatsmith) ham it up in front of a hungry, hopefully not baying, audience?

Officially judging the competition is a panel of food experts led by native Caribbeans Chris Morris (who owns the venue) and Mayen Ekong, an authority on Caribbean food. The first 50 guests who sign up can also play judge.

The Great Caribbean Cook-Off is on Oct 11, 4-7pm, at Lime House (2 Jiak Chuan Rd; +65 6222 3130). $25 entry via Chope includes nibbles. $10 cocktails.
