Another Michelin name bites the dust — this time, it’s three-year-old Cheek By Jowl on Boon Tat Street. The modern Australian resto, which received one Michelin star each in the Singapore guides for 2017 and 2018, will serve its customers one final time on Feb 28 before closing for good.

This comes on the heels of other Michelin-starred closures like Whitegrass, Restaurant Andre, and Joel Robuchon Restaurant.

However, fret not if you’re a fan of chef-owner Rishi Naleendra. He’ll turn the shop house into a casual bistro come March, as well as set up a modern Australian fine dining place in the CBD by mid-2019, according to the Michelin Guide Singapore.

Apparently, the unit had been put on the market in August last year, leaving Naleendra to look around for a new venue, but as fate would have it, the new landlord availed the location for him to carry on cooking.

Rather than continue with the current restaurant though, he decided to move on to a new concept, giving up his star in the process. So if you’d like to have one last bite at Cheek By Jowl before it bids us goodbye, you have from now till the end of the month to stop by. Otherwise, expect new things from the same space.
