When you’re on the hunt for cheap and cheery dim sum, Kuai San Dian Xin is a decent option. As its name, which translates to “$1.30 dim sum” in Mandarin, suggests, every bamboo basket goes for the affordable price of $1.30.

With two outlets already at Woodlands and Lakeside, the no-frills eatery recently set its sights on Ang Mo Kio, with a new stall at a coffee shop in Blk 555, Ang Mo Kio Ave 10. Just like its Woodlands sister, it’s also open 24 hours. And with such low prices, the place naturally attracted long queues when it opened last month.

You can get your usual har gow, siew mai, char siew pau, chicken feet, and chee cheong fun here, as well as porridge and fried carrot cake. Don’t expect the best quality — it’s an inexpensive meal, after all — but if you live or work in the neighborhood, it’s a pretty good spot to get your cravings fulfilled, especially if they hit after midnight.
