Filipinos are spending more time, money and data online than ever before, none of which we ever seem to have enough of! With such limitations, it’s important to plan your internet consumption carefully and ensure you’re getting the best of the World Wide Web.
Here’s five things you definitely don’t want to miss out on:
Get inspired by Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach
The whole world (and beyond) has come to know Pia Wurtzbach since she was (eventually) crowned Miss Universe in December, making her only the third Miss Universe from the Philippines after Gloria Diaz in 1969 and Margie Moran in 1973. But what some may not know is the amount of inspiring insights this bold beauty bestows on her adoring fans via social media. Use some of that extra data looking her up on Instagram and Twitter.
Get that regal feeling with Clash Royale
If, like the rest of the Philippines, you’ve got yourself well and truly hooked on Clash of Clans, it’s time to upgrade and start playing in the big boy leagues. Bought to us by Supercell, the same Finnish games company responsible for the Clans phenomenon, Clash Royale is the latest in the freemium mobile strategy series, having only been released at the start of this month. Combining Multi Player Battle Area (MOBA) games, tower defense games and collectible card games, Clash Royale became the most downloaded and top-grossing app on the US iOS App Store after its release. See what all the fuss is about.
Get a hardcore lesson in sassing from Bretman Rock
Some people are just too fabulous not to be famous. That’s what the world decided last year when Philippines-born Bretman Rock – now 17 years old and living in Hawaii – began making videos and posting them to Snapchat, YouTube and Instagram. The camp and catty bombshell gained tens of thousands of followers and subscribers in his first few months, and now has more than 4.7 million followers on Instagram alone. Here’s just a tiny taste of his magic:
Keep tabs on JaDine!
If you’re totally mortified about the fact that hit TV series On The Wings of Love is no longer in our lives, don’t despair. The nation’s obsession with “love team” JaDine – made up of actor James Reid and actress Nadine Lustre – isn’t about to go away any time soon. The cute “couple” have worked side-by-side many times over the years for projects such as Talk Back and You’re Dead, My App Boyfie and Beauty and the Bestie. Until they decide exactly what to break our hearts with next, you can keep track of them on Instagram using #jadine.
Get some driving songs from Kristel Fulgar
A household name in the Philippines thanks to her roles in Bagito, Dahil Sa Pag-ibig, Got to Believe and Goin’ Bulilit, Kristel Fulgar caught the world’s attention in a whole new way earlier this year when she uploaded a video of herself singing while driving to YouTube. The fact that it was Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself” probably didn’t do her any harm, as the clip has now knocked up more than 3.6 million views. Kristel has followed up on the success with a few other in-car songs since, but we think she’s at her best when she’s multitasking with a guitar rather than a steering wheel. Exhibit A:
