A woman was caught on Saturday trying to sneak 167 cigarettes into the Navotas City Jail — all of which were hidden inside her vagina.
If you’re thinking sneaking contraband into a prison might see you end up there yourself, never fear, no actual legal action is being taken against her (more on that later!).
The woman was identified as Vanessa Mae Adducol, 30, The Philippine Daily Inquirer reported. She was visiting her husband Jay-ar Feliciano, who was detained for a drug-related crime.
Navotas warden Ricky Heart Pegalan said they had received information that Adducol was sneaking contraband inside the city jail, Manila Bulletin reported.
Inspector Mar Louie Salcedo, the jail’s chief administrator, said Adducol was about to visit her husband when a guard felt a bulge in her groin while patting her body during a routine inspection, the report added.
She was then subjected to a cavity search in which authorities found the contraband inside her vagina. The guards found 167 flattened cigarette sticks stuffed inside a condom, which was then inserted into her genitals.
Pegalan said that Feliciano likely wanted to sell the cigarettes to other inmates, Inquirer reported. Pegalan said that while a pack of cigarettes costs PHP100 (US$1.90) to PHP120 (US$2.28) outside jail, a single cigarette can sell for as much as PHP150 (US$2.85) inside.
Despite the fact that Adducol tried to smuggle goods into a prison, she is facing no legal action or potential jail time herself. Instead, she will be barred from visiting the jail for three months for violating its rules, The Philippine Star reported.
