What’s In A Name? Meet twins Jollibee and Mcdo Pangindian

In an exclusive interview with Coconuts Manila, Mcdo said their parents, who raised them in Cavite, named them as such because they wanted something memorable.

Well, their parents were right.

“I asked them why they named us McDonald and Jollibee. My mother said it was my father who thought of our names after reading the book Art of Remembering Names. He chose the name because it’s unique and easy to remember. When people hear our names, they become really happy. And it’s easier for us to make a conversation with them,” the incoming college freshman said.

Jollibee, the older twin, said their names made life easy for them as they were growing up.

“We’ve never been bullied because of our names even when we were kids. It even helped us gain more friends,” she said.

Her brother agrees.

“From elementary to senior high school, we saw people light up when they learn about our names. The teachers immediately know who we are even during the first day of school,” Mcdo said.

“People would be shocked when our names are announced in public, like that time when we became table tennis champions. The audience was so surprised when our names were called,” he added.

Both siblings said that when the right time comes, they would also give their kids names as unique as theirs.

“Having [a unique name] gives you a huge advantage [in life],” Jollibee said.

The twins are preparing for college, but they’re also thinking of getting part-time jobs in (where else?) Jollibee and McDonald’s.
