Some people have the nerve to get mad even when they’re so obviously wrong.
Facebook user Nico Ichieban shared a now-viral video of a taxi driver on the wrong side of the road who got angry at him for blocking the way along Quirino Highway in Quezon City.
Ichieban said in his post in Filipino: “We all want to get home early, all of us experience traffic, but please, don’t involve other people [in your wrong behavior]. You’re the one who did something wrong, and yet you’re the one who is arrogant.”
Ichieban told Coconuts Manila through a Facebook message that the incident happened on Thursday at around 10:30pm while he was on the way to the Quezon City district of Sangandaan (southbound), and the taxi driver was heading in the direction of Novaliches (northbound) in the same city.
According to radio station DZMM, the driver was identified as Arjay Golina.
Emmanuel Villegas of ES Villegas, Golina’s taxi operator, told DZMM that they have not gotten a comment from the driver regarding the incident.
The video shows Golina driving northbound in a southbound lane. Naturally, Ichieban’s vehicle ended up blocking Golina’s.
Wanting to teach the taxi driver a lesson, Ichieban drove forward, forcing the taxi driver to reverse and head back to his original lane.
Instead of apologizing for causing the inconvenience and driving off, Golina, visibly angry, rolled his window down and told Ichieban off.

In the video, Golina defends himself by asking Ichieban why he didn’t stop another jeepney who did the same thing before him, but Ichieban, irrate, repeatedly asks him in Filipino: “Was what you did correct?”
The taxi driver can be seen opening his door and then closing it again.
Ichieban and Golina got into a heated argument, even hurling expletives while taunting each other. Golina asked Ichieban what he got out of blocking him and he said: “[I stopped you from] your kagaguhan (tomfoolery).”
Irked, the driver personally attacked Ichieban before driving away.
He said: “Your phone’s ugly. Look at yourself, you look like a poser. I’m more handsome than you,” the driver says in Filipino. “Idiot, you’re ugly.”
Ichieban said he was on his way home from work when the incident happened and that the traffic was bad due to motorists who would counterflow or drive on the wrong side of the road.
“I blocked him [from driving on our lane] so others wouldn’t follow suit,” he told Coconuts.
Ichieban shared that a lot of motorists counterflow in that area when traffic officers aren’t around. He said he hoped that motorists would just follow traffic regulations.
“If we see something wrong, don’t copy it,” he added.
The video had over 1 million views, 12,000 reactions, and 18,300 shares as of this article’s posting. Netizens were mad at the taxi driver.
Tham Euhann Mercado said in Filipino: “He’s going to cry if his license gets taken away.”
Rigor Sevilla said: “Son of a b*tch, you’re the one who’s arrogant even when you’re the one who was wrong.”
Arlene Fabia Pascua said the driver should be taught a lesson: “He has no discipline. He drove on the wrong side of the road. He might hit someone!”
Naliorf Athena Eses joked that both men acted like children and that they should’ve gotten into a fistfight.
Melvin Santiangco called Ichieban out and said he was also arrogant.
“You should’ve just let the [traffic enforcers] catch the [the taxi driver]. You just want to be famous.”
