One wedding made waves on social media for incorporating Filipino traditions.

Local radio DJ Kevin Narciso posted a video of his cousin’s wedding on Twitter last week, showing guests as well as the bride and groom performing a traditional Igorot folk dance. The Igorot are a tribal group who reside in the Cordillera Administrative Region in northern Luzon.

He says in his tweet: “My cousin was just married and her husband is [an] Igorot, and they’re performing a native tribal dance for the reception in suits and dresses. I’m so shook[t]. This is amazing. Philippine native culture is so grand.”

When In Manila posted a video footage from the wedding, showing the guests, the bride, and groom dancing the torayan, a celebratory dance of the Madukayan, an Igorot tribe residing in Madukayan, Mountain Province.

The dance is performed at birthdays and weddings to ward off bad luck and to drive away negative memories from the past. When in Manila adds that the couple met during the bride’s first job interview in 2013.

Coconuts Manila has reached out to Narciso however he has yet to respond.

Check out what netizens had to say about the video:

Twitter user @bello_allyne says: “Should be my dream wedding and my father will be one of those who’ll play the gong or play the solibao.”

Twitter user @BlessieTJmarial adds: “Nice. And it’s a good tribute to their culture and beliefs, as what we have too. Congratulations to the newlyweds.”

Yet nothing brings people closer together than Village People’s Y.M.C.A. Narciso posted a follow-up video of both families dancing to the beat of the 1970s hit.

Congratulations to the happy couple!
