‘Vampires’ lure donors in ‘Transylvania-themed’ blood donation drive

Local government officials from a town in the northern Philippines had a little too much fun on a recent blood drive. They put on their capes and fake fangs in a “Transylvania-inspired” blood donation drive on Wednesday.

Led by Mayor Ramon Guico III, the “vampires” checked on donors who participated in the activity held at the town’s Rock Garden.

Employees of the Philippine Red Cross were also asked wear a black top and thick makeup to match the event’s ghoulish theme.

According to the Philippine Red Cross Pangasinan chapter, the goal was to get 4,000 bags of blood from the event.

“I hope we can collect as many bags of blood as we can,” Guico said in a report by the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Last week, a video featuring Guico and other local government officials went viral on Facebook after they released a video meant to attract blood donors.

The bloodletting activity was part of the town’s celebration of World Blood Donor’s Month.
