Unemployed Filipinos reach 3.13 million in February — Philippine Statistics Authority

The Philippine Statistics Authority released new figures on Wednesday that showed 3.13 million Filipinos were jobless in February, up from its tally of 2.93 million in January.

According to the PSA’s latest labor force survey, the national unemployment rate as of February is at 6.4 percent, similar to the figure last month.

The unemployment rate accounts for Filipinos 15 and above without work.

Meanwhile, February’s labor force participation rate climbed to 63.8 percent from 60.5 percent in January. This refers to people in the workforce who are actively seeking jobs.

Underemployed individuals, referring to partly employed people who wish to have more hours of work, stood at 6.38 million, translating to an underemployment rate of 14.0 percent.
